Hello! My name is Sally Bagshaw and I am running for position # 4 on the Seattle City Council.

I have lived in the Seattle area for 31 years. I have worked here, raised my kids here, and I love this city. I filed to run for election on Christmas Eve. Since then I’ve been meeting with people every day throughout this city asking about their issues, and I’ve listened to their concerns.
I hear the same themes over and over again - as a community, we worry about the security of our jobs. We voice frustration about traffic. Those of us with school-age children want predictability about where our kids will go to school and we want to know that our city supports a great public school system. And every one of us wants to live in a safe and clean city.
These are my concerns too and will be my focus. We need well paying, family-wage jobs in a city that supports its employers and encourages innovative new technologies. We must have a transportation system that moves people and freight efficiently. And we must focus on public safety in every part of our city, so we have safe, clean, friendly neighborhoods.
You can read more about my background and my career in the bio portion of this website, but I think it’s just as important to mention how I have gotten results, and how I will get things done if elected to City Council.
My strengths are in coalition and team building. I work with people, for people. I mediate and negotiate. When I encounter a problem, I find a solution. That is what I have done in my professional life. That is what I have done in my community. And that is what I will do on City Council.
My background is law but my passion is people. And what I bring to both is collaboration.
I specialized in collaborative law. For years, I served under Norm Maleng at the King County Prosecutor’s Office. Norm was my mentor, both professionally and personally. He was known for being bipartisan, for reaching beyond party lines: he sought the best in people and he wanted the best for people. I do, too, which is why I am running for office.
I want the best for this city. I want the best possible solutions. I want the best use of our tax dollars. I want that not just for some of us, but for all of us.
To be an elected official is to be a public servant, and what that means is that I serve you. In my King County office, we provided our clients what we called “Nordstrom Quality Service.” We looked for ways to do our jobs well, to treat everyone fairly, and get the product delivered fast. That is something I would be honored to do with you, and something that I will never forget. I will serve you. The disconnect that many of us feel when calling the government would not happen in my office. I will return your phone calls. I will work for you, on behalf of you, and most importantly, with you.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my campaign. I appreciate your time and I would be grateful for your support!
Municipal League rating for Sally: OUTSTANDING!
